Latest news:

Two men have been charged with harassment of Dave the dolphin. Police say they received dozens of 999 calls from worried witnesses after they saw two men following the dolphin in a small boat at 5.30am on Saturday.

Dave the dolphin became a tourist attraction when he made the waters off the town of Sandgate, his home in April last year.

Spokesman for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue Tony Woodley said volunteers had checked to make sure Dave was alright.

He said: “He seems to be okay and his behaviour seems to be the same as always."

“Because Dave gets very close to the shore it means people can get closer to Dave than they normally would with a wild dolphin.

“It is great people are able to see him we would urge that they keep a safe distance from him and do not interfere or try to touch or grab him.

Insp Gavin Roy, of Kent police, said: “Dolphins are well loved and friendly towards humans. They are protected by law and should be treated with respect.”

Reports of jet skiers, kayakers and motorised boats harassing the much-loved dolphin have become more frequent in recent months and police are urging people to keep their distance.

“It is an offence to intentionally or recklessly disturb a dolphin.”

He is still attracting up to 150 visitors a day and a website devoted to him regularly receives 302,000 visitors a month.

Pipe fitter Michael Jukes, 26, and 25-year-old groundworker
Daniel Buck have been released on unconditional bail.
Both men - from Folkestone - are due to appear before magistrates in the town on Thursday.

DivePro - Info was founded as a non-profit, training agency independent communication platform for diving professionals in 2004 by several dive professionals throughout the world. Initially a online message board, the project was recently completely updated and evolved into a fully grown CMS - Portal for scuba professionals and opened up for non-professional diving enthusiasts as well. While DivePro - Info's main focus is still the professional diving community, we believe that the access for recreational divers will allow for many benefits at both ends. Considering ourselves still as a new project, we look forward to many more years with expanding services to the diving community.
